It started in 1995 when our President, Mark Vana, was a route salesman for an industrial launderer. The company would have so many used garments that they would often throw away large quantities of good used work clothes. Mr. Vana would take these discarded items and sell them to a small retail store that sold used work clothes. That company was Affordable Workwear. Mr. Vana noticed an ad for a going out of business sale at Affordable Workwear and stopped in to talk to the owner about the decision. After meeting the owner, they struck up an immediate friendship based on their common Christian faith and business interests. A deal was soon arranged and Affordable Workwear was no longer going out of business; but under new ownership. Mr. Vana quickly saw the need for affordable medical uniforms and slowly introduced medical apparel into the store. This was an immediate hit and soon the medical uniforms outnumbered the work uniforms. The name was changed to Affordable Uniforms in 2000 to reflect the new direction of the business. A second store was also added in 2000 as well as an on site sales division to service hospitals and nursing homes. Friends and family saw the success of the company and asked how they could get involved in the company and we continued to grow. In 2024 Affordable Uniforms rebranded as Med Threads. Med Threads better reflects the premium, name brand, medical uniforms we sell. Today there are five retail locations, along with the mobile sales, all located in the state of Ohio. The original Garfield Heights Location is still owned by Mr. Vana.
